Who You Are

HEARD is hiring a Senior Full-Stack Developer who will play a foundational role in shaping one of music’s most exciting new technologies.

As a senior member of our team, you will play a critical role designing, developing, and maintaining our core platform. You will work across the entire stack, ensuring a seamless, performant, and impactful product. You will collaborate closely with product owners, data stakeholders, and users to translate business requirements into robust and scalable technical solutions.

Your ability to manage engineering stories through the SDLC will be essential as we continue to power world-class record labels. Your expertise will contribute to the development of data-driven tools that empower our clients to make informed decisions in the ever-evolving music landscape.

What You’ll Do

  • Technical planning - Work closely with product owners to translate product specifications and user requirements into thoughtful technical plans and tickets, fostering a collaborative and innovative development environment.
  • Robust backend engineering - Design, develop, and deploy scalable and maintainable web applications and APIs using modern technologies and architectural patterns. We use Node, TypeScript, Nx, and more.
  • Energized frontend development - Craft exciting, intuitive, and reliable user experiences using React, TypeScript, and the wealth of the open-source ecosystem.
  • Data engineering - Collaborate with data stakeholders to design, develop, and deploy new models within HEARD’s data warehouse using DBT, SQL, and Snowflake. Manage data sources and integrations with the rest of HEARD’s core platform.
  • Database design - Design and optimize database schemas to ensure data integrity, performance, and scalability, employing best practices for data modeling and querying. We use PostgreSQL, Prisma, and more.
  • Code quality - Write clean, well-documented, and testable code, adhering to best practices and coding standards. Encourage the same from others via PR reviews, tooling, peer programing, and retrospectives.
  • Technical leadership and mentorship - Provide technical leadership and guidance to other developers, fostering their growth, and promoting a culture of knowledge sharing and continuous learning.
  • Savvy problem solving - Identify and resolve complex technical challenges, employing a strategic and analytical approach to ensure optimal performance, reliability, and security of the platform.

What You Bring

  • 7+ years of production backend experience with Node.js and TypeScript
  • 3+ years of production frontend experience with React and TypeScript
  • Strong knowledge of relational databases
  • Track record leading complex features through the SDLC
  • Track record of excellent communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Track record of self-sufficiency
  • Knowledge and appreciation of software best practices
  • Experience managing cloud infrastructure
  • Presence 1 day a week in HEARD’s Boston office for collaboration and ideation, working alongside our CTO
